There’s been people trying to push ⁂ as a way to represent the fediverse using a unicode symbol. I’m not sure it’s really taken off, but it’s an option.

If you go to the repository settings there’s an option to enable archived apps and outdated versions. Then select the f-droid archive repo for that app.

Often these are disabled for a reason, so you might want to check if there’s any important bug fixes since then.

It happens sometimes. Depending on the details, you can report them as spam, just remove the follow, or ignore it.

In some cases it could also be people that genuinely want to follow you. People often talk about one topic but still care about other stuff.

A lot of instances block it. You can check the moderated servers section on your instance about page to see if it’s blocked.

Meta does a terrible job moderating, so it can be a massive amount of extra work dealing with shitty people from there. They also have policy agreements to collect your data if you federate with them.

F-Droid always compiles everything themselves, and runs a bunch of tests on it before releasing anything. It’s usually a few extra days for most apps.

It’s an interesting project, but NodeBB and Discourse have been working on adding activitypub support, so people who prefer bb style forums will probably use those. I don’t think they integrate that well with lemmy yet, but I think it’s being worked on.

That’s monthly right? It’s a slight exageration, but that’s close to low end used car payments. And from what I understand it’ll go up as bluesky gets more popular, and the more relays there are.

It’s designed so other relays need to handle every message sent on all of bluesky, so server costs would be way too high for most people. Like car prices for minimal bluesky relay setup, and way more if you want to actually store all the messages you’re processing.

You can make anything terrible with enough money.

Recycling rates are low, but I wouldn’t quite call it a myth. There’s a lot of materials that get lumped together as ‘plastic’, that each have to be handled differently.

Some are relatively non-toxic and easily recycled. More can be, but aren’t profitable without incentives. Some are very toxic, and recycling those are difficult. Then there’s a lot of rarer types that make it hard to collect and sort. There’s also mixed materials, where it’s hard to separate the plastic to recycle.

Generally everyone should be minimizing plastics, but check how they’re handled locally so you know what’s recylable.

I haven’t made it in years, but the powder (vital wheat gluten) is basically flour with the starch removed. There’s a lot of recipes out there, but the idea is to make a flavored dough out of it, then simmer it in a broth for at least half an hour. The tricky part is you don’t want it to fully boil, or the texture will be off. You need keep checking on it to keep it at a low simmer.

I should mention that while it does have a lot of protein, it’s the same type of protein as the pasta. It doesn’t really matter for a single meal, but it’s not a complete protein. Long term you need other sources to get all your amino acids. There’s a reason a lot of staple meals have a combination of grains and legumes.

Also all the debris burning up on reentry. With starlink they want to have 42k satellites, each designed to only last 5 years. So that’d be about 2 tons of aluminum added to the atmosphere every day.
